CARSON CITY, NV - December 09, 2021
Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced the launch of a $30 million grant program called the “Community Recovery Grant.” This grant program, which will be funded by American Rescue Plan dollars, is aimed at utilizing existing non-profits in the State to provide direct and immediate community services.
“Through the Nevada Recovers Listening Tour, we heard loud and clear from Nevadans that there’s an urgent need for relief in our communities right now,” Governor Sisolak said. “This grant will allow us to use the existing expertise and networks of some of the incredible non-profits in the State to meet the needs of Nevadans.”
Non-profits providing community services are eligible to apply – funds are not eligible to be used to support operations or infrastructure needs for non-profits but are aimed at helping increase the services the non-profit provides to the community.
The program was presented to the Nevada Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee today and applications are now live at NevadaRecovers.com. Information is available in both English and Spanish.
“This $30 million in Community Recovery Grant dollars will provide immediate relief for Nevadans who need it most,” said Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno, vice chair of the Interim Finance Committee. “No one understands the needs of our communities better than the non-profit organizations who have been helping our neighbors through the impacts of the pandemic and I’m thrilled this program is up and running.”
“This non-profit grant program is one more way that we are working with the Governor’s office, our federal delegation, and stakeholders to use federal funding to fuel our recovery,” said Senator Chris Brooks, chair of the Interim Finance Committee. “This program will quickly get funding into the hands of non-profits who serve critical roles on the ground in Nevada’s communities, delivering services that our residents rely on.”
Non-profits who previously submitted ideas for funding through the Nevada Recovers Listening Tour will be asked to fill out a formal application.
Applications will be open until January 3rd and will be evaluated on an individual basis based on highest community needs and guidelines from the U.S. Treasury to ensure funding is spent appropriately. Grant amounts will vary based on application and need and will be brought forward to IFC for approval.
Applications that help Nevada’s most vulnerable communities access the resources necessary to relieve hardships experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be prioritized. Interested non-profit partners will join our team on our mission to:
- Invest in schools that prepare all children for success
- Solidify a healthy state for all Nevadans
- Provide good jobs for a diverse, vibrant and sustainable workforce
- Support families with access to quality and affordable childcare
