HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to Spotlight Biden-Harris Administration’s COVID-19 Surge Response Team Work with Public Health Officials in Nevada

On Thursday, July 22, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra will travel to Nevada to receive an update and participate in a briefing with public health officials on the work of the Biden-Harris Administration’s COVID-19 surge response team in the state. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak will join Secretary Becerra for the visit.

Secretary Becerra will tour the Clark County Fire Department Training Facility, where the COVID-19 surge response team is coordinating its response and supporting state and local COVID-19 vaccination and mitigation efforts. While on site, Secretary Becerra will receive a private briefing from officials on the ground, including Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) personnel, as well as state and local officials. There will be a pool spray at the top of the briefing, and Secretary Becerra and other officials will provide an update and participate in a press availability immediately following the briefing.

Later, Secretary Becerra will visit a pop-up COVID-19 vaccine and testing clinic.
