Governor Sisolak attends grand opening for Nevada Cares Campus

RENO, NV – May 17, 2021

Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak joined community leaders from across Northern Nevada for a ribbon cutting event for the Nevada Cares Campus.

“I am so grateful for the true community collaboration that went into bringing this project to life,” Gov. Sisolak said during the event. “From the Nevada Department of Transportation, to Washoe County, the City of Reno, the City of Sparks and so many other partners – this grand opening is a shining example that when our State is faced with big challenges, we all come together to build a stronger Nevada. Today is a big step in the right direction – and it is only the beginning.”

The facility, which is approximately 46,000 square feet, can hold up to 900 people and will include wraparound services for clients in need in the Truckee Meadows area.

The shelter will serve adults, couples and individuals with pets. The new campus includes bathroom and shower units, as well as an outdoor area and fencing.

The Governor joined representatives from the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County and more for the grand opening.
