
WHEREAS, Karen Chandler is retiring from the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) on January 17, 2026, after more than 30 years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Karen started her career on Oct. 23, 1995, with DCFS as a mental health counselor where she worked to bring children and adolescents placed in out-of-state treatment facilities home to Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Karen was promoted in 2004, 2006 and 2012 working at On Campus Treatment Homes; Children's Clinical Services at the North Neighborhood Family Services Center in North Las Vegas; and at the South Neighborhood Family Service Center in Henderson, all in support of community-based children's mental health services; and
WHEREAS, Karen's contributions to the development of many mental health professionals as a devoted clinical supervisor; her laughter and sense of humor with colleagues; and her compassionate, common-sense approach to supporting children's mental health in Southern Nevada will be deeply missed both professionally and personally by all who had the pleasure and privilege of working with her; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada extends Karen Chandler its best wishes for a well-deserved, joyful, and fulfilling retirement;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim January 17, 2026, as a day in honor of
KAREN CHANDLER
