
WHEREAS, Irma Gomez is retiring from the Nevada Department of Human and Health Services after 30 dedicated years of service to the. citizens of the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, during her three decades of service, Irma worked in two offices under the administrations of six Governors. She saw the Health Division become the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, and Department of Human Services name changes during her employment. She was present for system upgrades from typewriters to laptops and from landlines to internet meetings. Irma helped to move the records vault from the Kinkead Building to Technology Way; and
WHEREAS, Irma worked diligently for 21 years, from September 1995 to June serving the public and her coworkers during her tenure in Vital Records. Irma 2017, provided assistance, in English and Spanish, to families and individuals looking to obtain vital records. Irma provided services tens of thousands of Nevadans from all backgrounds and across the state for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS, Irma provided bilingual guidance to families of infants and toddlers with disabilities regarding Early Intervention Services in Nevada from June 2017 to September 2025, supporting the state's most vulnerable population and their families, as well as compliance staff. Irma provided attentive and professional support in requests, referrals and complaints alike. She was always ready to enter data, speak with families, track down an order, get a service on the phone, or stuff envelopes for surveys; and
WHEREAS, Irma will leave behind a small team of 11 that will miss her when she takes decades of experience with her. She will be spending her retirement with her children and grandchildren, hopefully at Disneyland seeing the world during seasonal cruises; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of all Nevadans and the State of Nevada, we express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for her many years of outstanding contributions to public service.  We extend our best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2025, as a day in honor of
