Seal of the State of Nevada

WHEREAS, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada’s national forest, is the largest in the contiguous United States, spanning more than 5.7 million acres of high alpine forests and sagebrush seas; and

WHEREAS, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest supports mining, ranching and outdoor recreation, offers a wealth of opportunities to connect with nature, fosters abundant wildlife and clean water and protects and preserves our cultural heritage and way of life; and

WHEREAS,  a magnificent 53-foot red fir tree, or silver tip, harvested from the Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest has been selected by as the 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree and named Silver Belle in honor of Nevada’s western heritage; and

WHEREAS, the U.S. Forest Service, federal and state agencies, seventeen counties, tribes and a multitude of other partners are committed to working together in shared stewardship on behalf of Nevada, preserving the stunning landscapes that have produced this perfect Christmas Tree; and

WHEREAS, communities, schools and partners across the state have joined together to celebrate “the Peoples’ Tree”, handcrafting 10,000 ornaments to adorn the tree and tell the story of Nevada and its national forest, from working lands to wild places; and

WHEREAS, Silver Belle will grace the annual Nevada Day Parade in Carson City, celebrating the anniversary of our statehood, before embarking on a journey across the country to the U.S. Capitol’s West Lawn, serving as an ambassador for the forest and the state; and

WHEREAS, Silver Belle reflects the deep-rooted connections between the U.S. Forest Service, the state, tribes, local communities and many other partners across Nevada and demonstrates this unity and collaboration in its journey across the country; and

WHEREAS, I hereby proclaim Silver Belle, the 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, Nevada’s gift to the nation this holiday season and invite all Americans to join with us as we celebrate the spirit of the Silver State, from starry skies to neon lights;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 25, 2025, as

THE 2025 U.S. CAPITOL CHRISTMAS TREE
