
WHEREAS, food is the substance by which life is sustained, the type, quality, and amount of food that individuals consume each day plays a vital role in their overall health; and
WHEREAS, nutrient needs change over an individual's lifespan and following a healthy dietary pattern can help maintain good health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases throughout all stages of life; and
WHEREAS, individual food choices are unique and reflect different cultural backgrounds and traditions; and
WHEREAS, food availability is shaped by the food system, economy, and environment whose impacts are not experienced equitably; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to recognize that food is a connecting factor to one's culture, family and friends; this year's Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics theme "Food Connects Us" bridges Nevadans to their health, memories, traditions, seasons, and access through their relationship with food and nutrition. While these factors influence the foods an individual eats, foods consumed also impacts on one's health; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is working to improve the quality of life for those in need by enhancing resources to address and resolve gaps and health disparities in nutrition services, agriculture, and programming for all life stages and cultures through a sustainable food system; and
WHEREAS, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture are proud to work together to provide nutrition programming, education, and awareness to Nevadans;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2025 as
NUTRITION MONTH IN NEVADA
