WHEREAS, on December 1, 2025, Valora Bush is retiring from the Division of Social Services after 36 years of loyal, diligent, and exceptional public service to the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Valora began her professional career with the State of Nevada on March 28, 1989, as an Administrative Assistant I at the State Industrial Insurance System. She was subsequently promoted to Medical Fee Clerk in Medical Billing, then to Workers' Compensation Specialist I in the Claims Department and later served as an Account Representative in the Policyholders Department; and

WHEREAS, on April 17, 2000, Ms. Bush transferred to the Nevada Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services, where she held the position of Family Services Specialist II and Hearings Unit Representative; and

WHEREAS, Valora has served under six Governors including Bob Miller, Kenny Guinn, Jim Gibbons, Brian Sandoval, Steve Sisolak, and Joe Lombardo, as well as eight Social Services Administrators, Myla C. Florence, Michael Wilden, Nancy K. Ford, Romaine Gilliland, Diane Comeaux, Michael McMahon, Steve Fisher, and Robert Thompson; and

WHEREAS, Valora has served the Division of Social Services with dedication and commitment, a high level of competency, and a broad range of skills to support the Division in its mission to provide qualified Nevadans in need with the services offered to help build better lives; and

WHEREAS, Valora displayed exceptional commitment and dedication throughout her years of service to the State of Nevada, making her a valuable civil servant and advocate for the citizens of this state. Through her service to her fellow citizens, she can leave her position with dignity knowing that she has made a difference in our community and agency; and

WHEREAS, in honor of Valora Bush and in recognition of her significant contributions to the State of Nevada, colleagues, friends and co-workers would like to thank and commend her for her years of dedication, devotion, honorable service, and extend their best wishes for a healthy, happy, prosperous, and fulfilling retirement;
