
WHEREAS, the Purple Heart Medal first established by General George Washington in 1782, is the oldest military decoration still awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed in combat while serving their country with honor and valor; and
WHEREAS, August 7 is nationally recognized as Purple Heart Day, a time to reflect upon the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of the men and women who have been awarded this esteemed honor; and
WHEREAS, on August 7, 2025, the community of Pahrump, Nevada will come together at the Chief Tecopa Cemetery to hold a solemn Purple Heart Day Ceremony, honoring all Purple Heart recipients, past and present, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of a grateful nation; and
WHEREAS, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion, and the Marine Corps Legion (MCL) of Pahrump, Nevada have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to organizing and supporting this important commemoration, serving as tireless advocates for veterans and their families, and ensuring the legacy of heroism is preserved for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada recognizes and deeply appreciates the bravery of our Purple Heart recipients and the continued efforts of our veterans' service organizations in upholding the dignity and honor of those who have borne the cost of battle,
WHEREAS, NOW, THEREFORE, I extend, on behalf of the State of Nevada, our deepest gratitude and respect to the DAV, VFW, American Legion, and the MCL of Pahrump for their unwavering commitment to honoring our nation's heroes and for their leadership in the Purple Heart Day Ceremony.
WHEREAS, IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nevada to be affixed this 7th day of August, 2025.
