WHEREAS, lifelong learning is essential for personal and professional development, and access to quality education is a fundamental right that empowers individuals and strengthens our communities; and
WHEREAS, adult education provides crucial opportunities for individuals to improve their literacy skills, achieve personal goals, and enhance their economic prospects, thus contributing to the overall well-being of our state; and
WHEREAS, family literacy programs play a vital role in breaking the cycle of poverty, fostering a love for learning in children, and supporting families in building stronger, more resilient communities; and
WHEREAS, our state is committed to supporting initiatives that expand access to educational resources and opportunities for all citizens, ensuring that every individual has the chance to reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, the collaborative efforts of educators, community organizations, and volunteers are instrumental in promoting the value of adult education and family literacy, and in helping to create a more informed and engaged society; and
WHEREAS, the week of September 16- 20, 2024 has been designated as Adult Education and Family Literacy Week to recognize the importance of these programs and to celebrate the achievements of learners, educators, and advocates across our state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 16-20, 2024, as
ADULT EDUCATION AND FAMILY LITERACY WEEK IN NEVADA
