WHEREAS, ensuring the safety of Nevada’s young learners is of utmost importance; and

WHEREAS, all members of the school community have a duty to create and provide a safe and respectful learning environment for students that is free of bullying and cyber bullying; and

WHEREAS, bullying and cyber-bullying interfere with the rights of a person by creating an intimidating or hostile educational environment for the person; interfering with the academic performance of a pupil or the ability of the students to participate in or benefit from services, activities or privileges provided by a school; or physically harms a person or damages the property of a person, or places a person in reasonable fear of harm; and

WHEREAS, a learning environment that is safe and respectful is essential for all students, staff, and families and it is necessary for those pupils to achieve success and meet our state’s high academic standards; and

WHEREAS, students, parents, educators, and community members have a role to play in ensuring that Nevada is known as a place where bullying will not be tolerated, and where the Nevada family lives in mutual respect;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of September 30 – October 4, 2024, as
