WHEREAS, Bob Potts is retiring from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) after many years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, as one of the original founders of GOED during its creation in 2011, Mr. Potts played an essential role in attracting over 780 companies and $24.5 billion of investment into Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Potts oversaw the collection, analysis and reporting of business, labor, socioeconomic and performance information in the development and diversification of Nevada’s growing economy; and
WHEREAS, roughly 82,000 jobs were created thanks to the companies Mr. Potts helped attract to Nevada, these include involvement in the original Tesla Gigafactory project, Tesla semitruck and battery manufacturing operation, and the Redwood recycling, and critical elements processing facilities in Northern Nevada; and
WHEREAS, as a key advisor to multiple governors, Mr. Potts provided a regular snapshot of the state of the economy, preparing timely data points to help inform the decision-making process; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Potts provided accessible expertise, analysis services, training, presentation, benchmarking/indicator techniques, and other data and information practices to support a wide range of stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Potts was a devoted mentor, colleague and friend who was passionate about serving Nevada and the many different people within it; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Potts has earned the respect, admiration and gratitude of his colleagues, peers and the community through his leadership as deputy director for the last five years and in extending sincere appreciation for his years of service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 27, 2024, as a day in honor of
