WHEREAS, Barbara Weisenthal is retiring from the Department of Corrections on September 3, 2024, after over 29 years of loyal, diligent and dedicated public service to the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Barbara began her state career with the Department of Corrections on November 11, 1995; she quickly promoted to a Program Assistant for the Bureau of Mining Regulation and Reclamation at Environmental Protection and eventually promoted to the Assistant to the Administrator, where she oversaw all administrative staff and worked directly with the Administrator and Division Bureau Chiefs; and
WHEREAS, in 2004 Barbara continued her state career promoting as an Accountant Technician at the Health Division now titled Public and Behavioral Health, where she assisted to secure funding to programs through federal grant funding which led to her advancing to a Grants and Project Analyst with Public Health Preparedness and eventually a Management Analyst managing the funding for the Ryan White AIDS Drug Assistant federally funded program; and
WHEREAS, in May of 2014, Barbara returned to Department of Corrections promoting to a Budget Analyst for the Fiscal Division, working on executive budget preparing for operational facility, correctional programs, and division administrative budgets, working to forecast and secure funding to maintain Department operations and obligations; and
WHEREAS, Barbara is completing her state career as an Administrative Services Officer at the Department of Corrections working in Prison Medical which she was promoted to In July 2021, working with providers and professional nursing staff to maintain direct patient care to the offenders statewide to ensure medical facilities, equipment and funding meets national standards; and
WHEREAS, Barbara has been a constant source of information and has been admired by all who have worked closely with her and saw firsthand the depth of the knowledge she has acquired throughout her years of state service, not to mention her exceptional work ethic, she will be missed, both professionally and personally, those that had the pleasure to work with her and learn from her; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections and the State of Nevada joins with colleagues, co-workers and leadership to extend to Barbara Wiesenthal sincere appreciation and gratitude for over 29 years of outstanding commitment and excellence in service to the citizens of the Silver State; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Barbara's contributions to the State of Nevada, her friends and co-workers would like to thank and commend her for her dedicated and loyal years of honorable service and extend their best wishes for a happy, prosperous and fulfilling retirement;
