WHEREAS, the vibrant and diverse youth of Nevada embody the promise of our state's future, with their understanding and respect for the rule of law serving as the foundation for a society rooted in justice, civic engagement, and informed citizenship; and

WHEREAS, on February 5, 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaimed that henceforth May 1 of each year would be Law Day in the United States, a day dedicated to the celebration of our commitment to the rule of law, which has been observed annually to emphasize the legal system's role in our democracy and our lives; and

WHEREAS, the 2024 Law Day theme "Voices of Democracy" emphasizes the enduring principle that the rule of law forms the bedrock of our democracy, where for nearly 250 years, the system of laws in the United States has empowered its people not only to voice their political views and wishes but also to ensure that such expressions and actions are grounded within the framework of law, thus maintaining the integrity and endurance of our democratic institutions; and

WHEREAS, Project REAL and numerous other nonprofits throughout the state of Nevada will spearhead REALReady conversations throughout the entire state, encouraging adults to engage in meaningful dialogues about the Rule of Law with the young people in their lives; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada, valuing the diversity of its citizens' political beliefs and the importance of inclusive and respectful dialogue, commits to the engagement of all community members, especially the youth, in upholding and promoting the principles of democracy and the rule of law; and

WHEREAS, Project REAL and numerous other nonprofits champion this call to action by educating Nevada's youth on the importance of the rule of law, through initiatives that encourage them to "Check Their Surroundings," "Think Within the Law," and "Do the Math," thus equipping them with the knowledge and skills to navigate their social environments responsibly, to make informed decisions, and to assess the consequences of their actions within the framework of law;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2024, as
