WHEREAS, food is the substance by which life is sustained, the type, quality, and amount of food that individuals consume each day plays a vital role in their overall health; and
WHEREAS, nutrient needs change over an individual's lifespan and following a healthy dietary pattern can help maintain good health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases throughout all stages of life; and
WHEREAS, individual food choices are unique and reflect different cultural backgrounds and traditions; and
WHEREAS, food availability is shaped by the food system, economy, and environment whose impacts are not experienced equitably; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to highlight the farm-to-fork aspect of nutrition that addresses the various ways and places one eats, both at home and on-the-go that includes a wide-scale effort to enhance healthy eating practices and sustainability efforts, thus improving health disparities across one's lifespan in a way that meets this year's national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics theme of "Beyond the Table" and meet nutrient needs to improve and sustain long-term health; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is working to improve the quality of life for those in need by enhancing resources to address and resolve gaps and health disparities in nutrition services and programming for all life stages; and
WHEREAS, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture are proud to work together to provide nutrition programming, education, and awareness to Nevadans;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2024 as
Nutrition Month In Nevada
