WHEREAS, Julie Butler is retiring from the Department of Motor Vehicles on March 1, 2024, after 30 years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Julie started her career with the State Budget Division, Planning Section on March 1, 1994, working on revenue forecasts and assisting with executive budget preparation; and progressed to a Management Analyst I and eventually a Grants & Projects Analyst II, where she helped look for federal grant opportunities for state agencies; and

WHEREAS, in 1997 Julie was promoted to the Purchasing Officer II, starting a new program within the Purchasing Division, where she was instrumental in the development of the Request for Proposals process, eventually promoting to a Purchasing Officer Supervisor over the entire Services Purchasing section; and

WHEREAS, Julie was promoted in October 2000 to the Office of Traffic Safety Administrator position where she stayed until August of 2001 and then she transferred back to the State Budget Division as the Chief Assistant for Planning, where she worked her way to a Budget Analyst IV position overseeing budgets for the Department of Health and Human Services; and

WHEREAS, in 2006 Julie transferred to the Department of Public Safety's Criminal History Repository, where she worked in its various programs and budgets, progressing to the Administrator of the Department Record's Bureau responsible for the Civil Applicant Program, Criminal Records Program, Sex Offender Registry, Firearms Point of Sale background check program, State Dispatch Centers and a robust auditing program for users of the Nevada Criminal Justice Information System; and

WHEREAS, in January 2019 Julie was appointed by Governor Sisolak to be the new DMV Director, with Governor Lombardo re-appointing her in January 2023, to the agency where Julie had a profound impact over her 5 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Julie has endeared herself to all with her vast knowledge, dedication to service, compassion for others and will be sincerely missed, both professionally and personally, by all those who had the pleasure and good fortune to work with her, learn from her and carry on her legacy; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the State of Nevada joins with co-workers and leadership in expressing our profound and sincere appreciation for Julie's 30 years of outstanding service to the Silver State, earning her right to enjoy a well-deserved and happy retirement with her husband Rod, sons Dalton & Jarod, mother Beverly, soon to be daughter in law Sarah and other family members all by her side;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 1, 2024, as a day in honor of
