WHEREAS, in 1949, the Nevada Legislature consolidated the Nevada State Police, Inspectors from the Nevada Public Service Commission, and several Inspectors from the Nevada Department of Taxation to establish the Nevada Highway Patrol, setting the foundation for a unified enforcement body dedicated to maintaining safety and compliance on the state's roadways; and

WHEREAS, the Nevada Highway Patrol has since stood as a symbol of safety and service, charged with the responsibility of over 5,400 miles of Nevada's roads. Over the decades, it has adeptly evolved, responding to increasing demands and changing conditions, thereby solidifying its role as a cornerstone of our state's unwavering commitment to traffic safety and exemplary public service; and

WHEREAS, for 75 years, the dedicated men and women of the Nevada Highway Patrol have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of Nevada's residents and its multitude of visitors, ensuring that our highways remain conduits of safe and efficient travel; and

WHEREAS, the Nevada Highway Patrol has, through its rich history, pioneered innovations in traffic safety, deployed advanced technologies and strategies, and upheld the highest standards to focus on reducing fatalities and enhancing roadway safety for all; and

WHEREAS, the steadfast dedication of the Nevada Highway Patrol to community engagement and education has significantly contributed to fostering a safer driving environment, demonstrated by their active involvement in community events and traffic safety campaigns; and

WHEREAS, the State Troopers of the Nevada Highway Patrol have consistently shown heroic bravery and a commitment to the citizens they serve, often under challenging and perilous conditions, exemplifying the virtues of courage, vigilance, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends the Nevada Highway Patrol and its members for their service, dedication, and enduring commitment to the state. We honor and celebrate the legacy of the Nevada Highway Patrol, its past and present, and their pivotal role in our state's history and future;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim July 1, 2024, as

NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL’S 75th ANNIVERSARY
