WHEREAS, Shirley Farkas is a dedicated and exceptional public employee who has diligently provided 29 outstanding years of service to the State of Nevada, at Nevada Early Intervention Services in the Aging and Disability Services Division of Health and Human Services; and

WHEREAS, Shirley began her career in state government on May 1st, 1996, initially at the Special Children's Clinic as a Registered Dietitian, which later became Nevada Early Intervention Services; and

WHEREAS, Shirley brought her much-appreciated professional knowledge and expertise. She has had a profound effect with providing nutritional guidance to the children and families that she has served; and

WHEREAS, Shirley has been described by her coworkers and families as dependable, knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking, well-respected, and served as a reliable source of expertise in all matters related to nutrition; and

WHEREAS, Shirley has been a pleasure to work with, and will sincerely be missed, both professionally and personally by all who have had the pleasure and good fortune to work with her; and

WHEREAS, Shirley has proven herself to be loyal to and proud of the mission of Nevada Early Intervention Services where her daily dedication to public service holds steadfast in both her relationships with the families she serves and the caring support of her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, on behalf of the citizens of the State of Nevada, we would like to express our appreciation and commend Shirley Farkas for her many years of devoted and honorable service to our Silver State and wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim January 31, 2024 as a day in honor of
