WHEREAS, Lisa Luzaich is retiring from the Clark County District Attorney's Office in January of 2024, after more than 29 years of sustained excellence and distinguished service to the community of Clark County and the citizens of the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Lisa began her career with the Clark County District Attorney's Office April 29, 1994, as a Law Clerk, she was promoted to Deputy District Attorney on July 15, 1995, and a Chief Deputy District Attorney on January 15, 2000, spending the vast majority of her career with the incredibly challenging Special Victims Unit; and
WHEREAS, Lisa has expertly and zealously represented the State of Nevada in trials and hearings as the voice for those that were silenced, as the confidant for those that went unheard, as the safeguard for our community's most vulnerable, and as the guardian for those that suffered violations to their human dignity; and
WHEREAS, Lisa's most dramatic and lasting impact on the Clark County District Attorney's Office and the legal community are the co-workers that she molded, shaped, and guided through their careers, and the defense attorneys that she challenged to meet and exceed the standards of professional excellence; thus, the legacy she leaves is unmatched; and
WHEREAS, Lisa dedicated her career to protecting the special victims of the most catastrophic and tragic crimes, her commitment was steadfast, constant, and true - a sense of duty instilled, a life of service fulfilled, and a resolve that never wavered, for which she is loved and will be sincerely missed; and
WHEREAS, there will come a day when the cases Lisa prosecuted may slip from our minds, when sentences she fought for and trials she did might be relegated to the dust bin of our memories; yet, there will never be a day that those who walked the halls of the Regional Justice Center with her will ever doubt that we were loved and inspired by Lisa; and
WHEREAS, the Clark County District Attorney's Office and the State of Nevada join in expressing our profound and sincere appreciation for Lisa and her years of dedication and service to the residents of the Silver State, earning her the right to enjoy a well-deserved and happy retirement with her beautiful children and grandchildren by her side;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim January 25, 2024, as a day in honor of
