WHEREAS, Katrina McKenna is retiring after serving the Silver State with distinction, and professional excellence for 31 years; and

WHEREAS, Katrina began her career in state service with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services on September 6, 1993, as a clerical trainee at the Owens District Office in the Employment and Training Unit; and

WHEREAS, Katrina was then reclassified to Administrative Assistant I where she joined the TANF ongoing unit and was later promoted to Administrative Assistant II, as an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Issuance Clerk. She later transferred to the Flamingo District Office as the Front Desk Supervisor, and later became a TANF Intake application/appointment screener; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, Katrina continued her administrative career with the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), as a Financial Aid Verifier for the Office of Financial Aid at the College of Southern Nevada, where she was responsible for verifying the accuracy of each student's Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) while simultaneously serving on the Financial Aid Appeals and the Office of the Registrar Appeals Committees; and

WHEREAS, in 2014, Katrina transferred to the Department of Counseling and Psychosocial Services at the College of Southern Nevada providing office management and appointment scheduling as well, as various mental health workshops and trainings to help students manage their emotional, relational, and behavioral growth; and

WHEREAS, on December 21, 2021, Katrina was promoted to Family Services Specialist I with the Division of Welfare and Social Services, and further worked as a Family Services Specialist II; and

WHEREAS, in honor of Katrina and in recognition of her significant contributions to the State of Nevada, colleagues, friends, and co-workers would like to thank and commend her for her years of dedication, devotion, and honorable service, and extend their best wishes for a healthy, happy, prosperous, and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim December 20, 2024, as a day in honor of
