WHEREAS, Reno is the heartbeat of entrepreneurship in Northern Nevada and the inaugural Reno Startup Week was created this year to honor entrepreneurs, makers, dreamers and founders; and

WHEREAS, small businesses, startups, makers and those entrepreneurs-to-be are the fierce backbone of the American economy; and

WHEREAS, the Economic Development Agency of Western Nevada (EDAWN) has brought together over 25 community organizations to help plan, build and promote Reno Startup Week with a schedule full of networking and programming; and

WHEREAS, over a dozen separate venues in Reno including the University of Nevada’s Innevation Center, The Discovery Museum, Reno Public Market, the Depot, the Cypress and Adams Hub in Carson City will host events during the week; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is an advocate for all small business and startup enterprises through numerous agencies and departments providing much needed resources to the CEO’s and owners of tomorrow; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada’s small business and entrepreneurial community continues to drive dynamic economic growth and expansion that is outpacing national trends, has been on the leading edge of this state’s post-covid recovery; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada applauds and celebrates the risk takers, drivers and hard-working entrepreneurs and founders who continue to pursue their own American Dream, with a continued commitment to creating economic growth and an atmosphere of innovation and creativity;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of September 25-29, 2023 as
