WHEREAS, the National Championship Air Races, held annually in Reno, Nevada, since their inception in 1964, have become a cherished and iconic aviation event, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators and participants from across the nation and around the world; and
WHEREAS, the Reno Air Races showcase the extraordinary skills of talented pilots, who demonstrate exceptional expertise, precision, and daring as they compete in various race classes, demonstrating the rich history and spirit of aviation in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the National Championship Air Races have played a significant role in promoting aviation and aerospace education, inspiring future generations of pilots, engineers, and aviation enthusiasts, and fostering a deep appreciation for the importance of aviation in the advancement of our society; and
WHEREAS, the Reno Air Races have not only served as a thrilling and exhilarating experience for attendees but have also contributed to the local economy, supporting businesses, creating jobs, and enhancing the city's reputation as a premier destination for aviation enthusiasts and tourists alike; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor the tradition and legacy of the National Championship Air Races by designating September 17th as "Reno Air Race Day" to commemorate this extraordinary event and its ongoing contributions to the aviation industry and the community of Reno, Nevada;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 17, 2023 as
