WHEREAS, it is with the utmost pride and admiration that we gather to celebrate four decades of unwavering commitment and dedication to our great nation’s defense, with particular emphasis on 38 remarkable years of service in the Nevada Air National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Senior Master Sergeant Hinen mobilized in support of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield which demonstrated his readiness to defend our nation in times of need: and has exemplified selfless service by voluntarily deploying to some of the most challenging and dangerous locations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, demonstrating their commitment to protecting homeland and preserving global peace; and

WHEREAS, Senior Master Sergeant Hinen’s courageous service includes deployments to Honduras, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan, where they faced the hardships of mobilization with bravery and resilience, contributing significantly to the success of these vital missions; and

WHEREAS, Senior Master Sergeant Hinen has also demonstrated a deep sense of duty and compassion during times of domestic crisis within Nevada for fires and flooding; and having played a pivotal role in the Hurricane Katrina Response; providing critical aid and support to those affected by one of the most devastating natural disasters in our nation’s history; and

WHEREAS, Senior Master Sergeant Hinen’s exceptional commitment to scientific exploration and international cooperation, as evidenced by his deployment to Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze and the US Antarctic Program, where they helped advance our understanding of this remote and vital region of the world;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 22, 2023 as a day in honor of
