WHEREAS, Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world with an estimated one billion devotees worldwide and a growing population in Nevada; and

WHEREAS, our vibrant Hindu American community has contributed greatly to the vitality of Nevada by enriching the lives of our community; and

WHEREAS, the practice of Hinduism seeks to promote unity among all Dharmic communities, increase awareness of the heritage's values, and educate society on issues affecting the Hindu American community; and

WHEREAS, Hinduism demonstrates through a living enlightened civilization that global peace is achievable and sustainable, and this begins with individual peace and spiritual awakening; and

WHEREAS, during the month of October, the culture, history, traditions, achievements, and contributions of Hindu Americans are recognized and celebrated throughout the United States and in Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Nevada is a state that values diversity and a wide variety of cultural traditions and encourages its citizens to better understand, recognize, and celebrate the rich history and shared experiences of Hindu Americans; and

WHEREAS, in every corner of our State, Hindu Americans have filled our communities with rich traditions and abundant culture, and the Silver State is proud to recognize their many social, cultural, and economic contributions to our State and nation during Hindu Heritage Month;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2023 as

HINDU HERITAGE MONTH IN NEVADA
