WHEREAS, the health and well-being of Nevadans are of paramount importance, and promoting a culture of wellness, healthy living and quality health care is vital to the overall prosperity of the state of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, the state of Nevada recognizes the significance of Open Enrollment as a critical period when individuals and families have the opportunity to obtain health coverage and access the care they need to maintain and improve their health; and
WHEREAS, Nevada Health Coverage Day will serve as a reminder of the state's commitment to expanding health care access, reducing disparities in health care outcomes, and promoting the health and financial security of all Nevadans; and
WHEREAS, designating a specific day for reflection and action on health-related matters, such as getting health insurance, can serve as a catalyst for individuals, families, and communities to promote healthier lifestyles and make positive choices for their well-being; and
WHEREAS, the commencement of Open Enrollment on November 1, known as Nevada Health Coverage Day, provides a clear and accessible starting point for individuals and families to explore their health care options and make informed decisions; and
WHEREAS, the state of Nevada acknowledges the importance of collaboration among public and private organizations, health care providers, educators, and community leaders in promoting health and wellness, and Nevada Health Coverage Day will serve as a platform for such collaboration and partnership;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim November 1, 2023 as
HEALTH COVERAGE DAY IN NEVADA
