WHEREAS, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is observed during the month of May to recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is observed during the month of May to recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Nevada is proud to be home to one of the fastest-growing Asian American populations in the United States and their contributions to the state's rich history, economy, and culture; and
WHEREAS, Asian American and Pacific Islander communities are deeply rooted in Nevada, and they play a vital role in our society; they are small business owners, teachers, healthcare professionals, our neighbors, our family members, and our friends; and
WHEREAS, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are still playing a critical role in Nevada's healthcare system, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) healthcare workers make up 19% share of all healthcare workers, the third-highest share of the healthcare workforce in the U.S.; and
WHEREAS, while we celebrate the achievements and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders that enrich our country, society, and culture, we must also acknowledge the additional determination, hard work, and perseverance of AAPI individuals throughout history; and
WHEREAS, diversity represents one of our greatest strengths, and by recognizing the contributions and accomplishments of Asian American and Pacific Islander population to Nevada we celebrate the importance of inclusion in the Great State of Nevada;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of May, 2023 as
ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN NEVADA
