WHEREAS, Cheryl Wood began her career with the State of Nevada as a Clerical Trainee with the EAP Work Experience Program at Western Nevada College in November, 1992; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl promoted to Administrative Assistant I, II, III, IV before becoming a Program Officer for EAP and then Acting Program Manager for EAP; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl was then promoted to a Business Process Analyst I in November 2013, with the Project Management Office Test Team, and then a Business Process Analyst II Team Lead in January 2022; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl worked with many DWSS Developers, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Testers, Project Managers, and vendors these last ten years with the Project Management Office where she has played a major role in testing applications for Nevada's clients and caseworkers based applications; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl was an excellent employee who proactively engaged with each IS team member in creative and fun ways which improved each team members ability to work through high stress and short deadline related to critical projects that DWSS addressed to impact residents in Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl’s strength has been to lead, serve and prepare her coworkers with the building blocks of leadership which produced strong working relationships throughout the State of Nevada. Thankfully, Cheryl shared her gift of humor and strong sense of realistic goals so everyone that interacted with her could see life with possibilities and address a difficult day in a positive way; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Cheryl's significant contributions to the State of Nevada, her friends, co-workers would like to thank and commend her for her years of devoted and honorable service and extend their best wishes for a happy, prosperous, and fulfilling retirement; her willingness to help others, humor and her unrelenting optimism will be greatly missed; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 12, 2023 as a day in honor of
