WHEREAS, Women's History Month provides the opportunity to shine a light on the courageous women who donned a military uniform and served our country; and
WHEREAS, from the earliest times, women have helped shape our nation in many ways including defending our Nation as members of the U.S. Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, women serve our nation with valor and distinction in times of peace and in times of war, with more than 230,000 women currently serving on active-duty in the U.S. Armed Forces today; and
WHEREAS, in Nevada there are nearly 24,000 women veterans who have served and approximately 2,500 currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in our State; and
WHEREAS, women from across the United States and in Nevada have contributed to the great achievements and prosperity of America and our Great State of Nevada, demonstrating leadership, courage, and determination that should be honored and recognized;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2023 as
WOMEN’S MILITARY HISTORY MONTH IN NEVADA
