WHEREAS, the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs is vital to making Nevada rich in history, humanities and arts through divisions of the Nevada Arts Council and the Division of Museums and History with seven museums located throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, a thriving arts and culture sector creates a high quality of life, which is beneficial in attracting and retaining businesses, workers and tourists and ensuring a healthy tax base for the state over the long term. Visitors to cultural and heritage destinations stay 53% longer and spend 36% more money than other kinds of tourists; and

WHEREAS, Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs is entrusted with the stewardship of Nevada's past, present and future all of which are vital to preserving Nevada's rich heritage and thriving arts and culture community;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 10, 2023 as

CULTURE DAY IN NEVADA
