WHEREAS, the tourism and travel industry is integral to the State of Nevada as well as the nation's economic prosperity while impacting business productivity and enhancing community vitality; and

WHEREAS, as a foundational cornerstone of Nevada's economy, 43.2 million travelers visited Nevada in 2021 providing significant economic benefits for the state, generating $39.4 billion in visitor spending revenue and $4.4 billion in total tourism-related local and state tax revenue in fiscal year 2021, supporting essential services and programs that enhance the quality of life for the Silver State’s residents and make them better places to live and work; and

WHEREAS, tourism and travel in Nevada supported 1 in 5 jobs in 2021, 355,361 jobs in total that were directly and indirectly impacted by visitor spending in 2021, encompassing key industries that depend on visitors including lodging, recreation and entertainment, and food and beverage employment; which contribute to the retention of vital professionals; and

WHEREAS, welcoming visitors from near and far has always been, and will remain, the enduring culture of the tourism industry in Nevada, and this month provides an opportunity for Nevadans across the state to celebrate the businesses and activities that define the unique character of every community in the Silver State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim February 13, 2023 as

TOURISM DAY IN NEVADA
