WHEREAS, Roswell Allen is a dedicated public servant who has provided 30 years of outstanding service to the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Roswell began his career as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist at Northern Nevada Correctional Center before transferring to Sierra Regional Center in 1998 and then to Rural Regional Center in 2012, serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and helping them lead independent, meaningful, and dignified lives; and
WHEREAS, Roswell worked as a Developmental Specialist IV at Sierra Regional Center's now-closed Intermediate Care Facility, managing 24-hour care and support programming for some of Nevada's most vulnerable persons; and
WHEREAS, Roswell was essential in the development of community-based family support services such as respite, self-directed services, and specialized services to youth with complex behavioral needs at Sierra Regional Center, serving as the supervisor of the family support team; and
WHEREAS, Roswell, while at Rural Regional Center, has supervised service coordinators throughout the state, including overseeing the opening of offices in Mesquite and Pahrump. In 2022, Roswell was promoted to the Health Program Manager III for Rural Regional Center, leading agency operations across over 90,000 square miles through 8 offices; and
WHEREAS, Roswell has provided exceptional person-centered services demonstrating positivity, professionalism, knowledge, skill, creativity, integrity, and compassion throughout his career. He will be missed personally and professionally by all who have had the pleasure to work with him; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the State of Nevada, we would like to thank and commend Roswell Allen for his many years of honorable and dedicated service with sincere appreciation, and wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim December 13, 2023, as a day in honor of
