WHEREAS, Jim Rodriguez grew up in San Dimas, California and attended the most triumphant San Dimas, High School made famous by Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure; and
WHEREAS, Jim began his postsecondary education at Santa Barbara City College and went on to complete his collegiate career at Cal Poly Pomona, where he earned a degree in Economics. Jim then admirably served his country as a logistics analyst in the defense industry; and
WHEREAS, Jim served his adopted state of Nevada, beginning as a program analyst in the Legislative Counsel Bureau, and then performed in various analyst and supervisory positions in the Budget Division before completing his service in Nevada as the Administrator of the Governor's Finance Office (GFO); and
WHEREAS, Jim has endured office mischief, unknown to him, that involved his vehicle, desk, doorway, stress balls, chair, and empty boxes. Jim was always willing to share a laugh to the point of crying in staff meetings, which helped alleviate stress for the entire office staff during some tough economic hardships; and
WHEREAS, after years of being the white elephant gift at GFO Christmas parties and signed by past recipients, Jim was gifted the infamous "Duck" to provide a good home since he is the last remaining employee who was around when it originated...long, long ago; and
WHEREAS, Jim's devoted and loving daughter Taylor accompanied him on many late-night work sessions at the office throughout his career. He is a great father and a dedicated dog dad; and
WHEREAS, as a supervisor, Jim demonstrated patience and understanding and provided excellent training. His sense of humor made work enjoyable. He encouraged a balance between work and family life and was understanding when unexpected events occurred; and
WHEREAS, Jim has always been a loyal friend and coworker who will be remembered for his integrity and morals, his character, and for his incredible drive and ambition, which always resulted in high-caliber work products; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Jim Rodriguez on his outstanding tenure as a dedicated State employee for the last 28 years and joins his family, friends, and colleagues in extending sincere appreciation for his years of service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement. It is hoped that Jim will be able to use his well-earned retirement to relax on the beaches of Hawaii, enjoy the sunsets, and golf every course on each of the islands;
