LAS VEGAS, Nev. – April 02, 2026
Today, Governor Joe Lombardo joined the Vegas Chamber for a wide-ranging conversation at its Business Power Luncheon, where he highlighted the work of his administration and outlined his continued focus on diversifying Nevada’s economy, improving educational outcomes, and public safety.
Governor Lombardo highlighted the progress Nevada has made under his leadership to attract investment, create jobs, and improve the state’s long-term competitiveness. He emphasized his record of securing $5 billion in private investment and more than 44,500 new jobs while updating or eliminating more than 900 burdensome state regulations and reducing the Modified Business Tax by 15% to support continued economic growth.
The Governor also underscored the emergence of Las Vegas as the “sports capital” of the world. In discussing Las Vegas’ momentum as a premier destination for major league sports and marquee events, Governor Lombardo noted his efforts to diversify and strengthen Nevada’s economy.
“Diversifying the economy is important – you’ve heard me talk about that from day one,” said Governor Lombardo. “Why is that? Because you saw the results of COVID. We were the first out and the last to come back in because of the lack of diversification. The more diversified we are, the stronger we are.”
On education, Governor Lombardo reiterated that improving K-12 outcomes remains one of his top priorities. He highlighted the largest education investment in Nevada history alongside significant reforms to expand school choice, improve school safety, and create more opportunities for students to attend higher-performing schools. The Governor also noted his administration’s record on raising graduation rates, improving school performance, and reducing teacher vacancies.
“Success means college or career ready upon graduation,” said Governor Lombardo. “What does that mean? That means the ability for you, the employer, to bring them into the work environment and rely on them to be a successful employee – to help your business and to help themselves. And to be in a work environment where they make enough wages in order to be conducive to success.”
Looking ahead, Governor Lombardo said his administration will remain focused on the issues most important to Nevada families: education, health care, housing, affordability, and public safety.
