Governor Lombardo Update On Gas Pipeline Disruption

CARSON CITY, NV – February 11, 2023

Last night, Governor Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency to help mitigate the impact of the California fuel pipeline leak in Southern Nevada. Since declaring the state of emergency, the Office of the Governor has remained in constant communication with Kinder Morgan, the Nevada Division of Emergency Management, and Clark County officials.

This morning, state and local emergency management partners received an update from Kinder Morgan on their estimated repair timeline. Please see the following statement from Governor Lombardo:

“This morning, Kinder Morgan alerted us that they had successfully isolated the source of the leak in their pipeline within their Watson Station in Long Beach, California. Kinder Morgan initiated restart activities for the pipeline and expects the pipeline to resume normal operations by this afternoon. As the pipeline is expected to be fully operational by this evening, I again urge Las Vegas residents to refrain from panic buying fuel.”

The Office of the Governor will continue to provide updates and work with emergency management partners throughout this afternoon.
