Today, Governor Joe Lombardo announced that the flags would be lowered to half-staff in honor of Pyramid Lake Tribal Police Officer Anthony Francone, who was killed in the line of duty on August 25, 2023.
Officer Francone served in law enforcement for over 25 years, serving with the Eureka County Sheriff's Office and Storey County Sheriff's Office, where he retired. After retirement, he continued his service with the Fallon Paiute Tribal Police Department, the Washoe Tribal Police Department, and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Police Department.
Pursuant to Nevada policy, Governor Lombardo is directing the United States flag and the Nevada state flag be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, September 9, 2023, which is the day of Officer Francone’s funeral service.
Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.
