WHEREAS, Women’s History Month provides the opportunity to shine a light on the courageous women who donned a military uniform and served our country and the Silver State with distinction; and

WHEREAS, from the earliest times, women have helped shape our nation in many ways including defending our country as members of the U.S. Armed Forces; and

WHEREAS, women serve our nation with valor and distinction in times of peace and in times of war, with more than 200,000 women currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces today; and

WHEREAS, in Nevada, there are approximately 24,500 women veterans who have served their country and there are approximately 2,000 women currently serving in in the U.S. Armed Forces in our State; and

WHEREAS, women from across the United States and in Nevada have contributed to the great achievements and prosperity of America and the State of Nevada, demonstrating leadership, courage, and determination that the Silver State is honored and proud to recognize;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim
