WHEREAS, safe and reliable school transportation is a vital component to ensuring every student in Nevada has equitable access to education and extracurricular activities; and

WHEREAS, Nevada’s school bus drivers are skilled and valuable members of our communities who safely transport students over thousands of miles of rural Nevada highways, suburban neighborhoods, and city streets each year; and

WHEREAS, school bus drivers and district transportation personnel have been integral to our COVID-19 response and recovery by delivering coursework, devices, meals, and Wi-Fi access to students and families across the State; and

WHEREAS, school bus drivers are often the first and last school personnel many of our students see every day; and

WHEREAS, by operating school buses in a safe manner, school bus drivers demonstrate responsible driving practices for Nevada students; and

WHEREAS, Silver State school bus drivers have continued to be a model for community service in the face of difficult staffing shortages and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Nevadans recognize the professionalism and dedication that school bus drivers play in transporting students and we appreciate the essential work that they do every day on behalf of our students and their families;
