WHEREAS, Sherry Valdez has served the State of Nevada with distinction and professional excellence for over 24 years; and

WHEREAS, Sherry Valdez began her career with the State of Nevada in August of 1998 then came to the Secretary of State's office in 2004 as an Administrative Assistant in Customer Service.

WHEREAS, she worked her way up to Accounting Supervisor over Receivables and, from there, she went to Information Technology as a BPA. In March of 2018, sherry joined the accounting team managing receivables and payables where she has worked until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Sherry Valdez has served the Secretary of State's office for over 18 years with dedication and commitment, providing quality work, outstanding work ethic and has done an excellent job in leading, mentoring, and supervising her team, she understands the importance of engaged leadership and is commended for a job well done; and

WHEREAS, during her 24 years of service, Sherry Valdez has worked under Secretaries of State Dean Heller, Ross Miller, and now Barbara K. Cegavske, and under Governors Bob Miller, Kenny Guinn, Jim Gibbons, Brian Sandoval and Steve Sisolak; and

WHEREAS, The Secretary of State's office extends sincere thanks and gratitude to Sherry Valdez on behalf of its employees and clients for her 24+ years of commitment and excellence; she will be missed, both professionally and personally, by all those who had the pleasure and good fortune to work with her; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada thanks sherry Valdez for her years of dedicated service to the residents of our great state and wishes her a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 7, 2022, as a day in honor of
