
WHEREAS, March is Women's History Month and well over 250,000 women are currently serving on active duty in the U.S. military; and
WHEREAS, there are approximately 1.64 million women who have served our country and this number is rapidly growing; and
WHEREAS, in Nevada, we have approximately 24,000 Women Veterans who have served and approximately 1,300 currently serving in our State; and
WHEREAS, the contributions of women in uniform are often overlooked, even by the women themselves and statistics show that some of our Women Veterans do not identify themselves as Veterans; and
WHEREAS, women from across the United States have contributed to the great achievements and prosperity of our country and these examples of leadership, courage, and determination should be honored and recognized;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 2021 as
WOMEN’S MILITARY HISTORY MONTH IN NEVADA
