WHEREAS, small businesses play a vital role in Nevada and our nation, creating jobs and promoting the innovations that are essential to continued economic development and success; and

WHEREAS, the Saturday following Thanksgiving is dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide, encouraging residents and visitors to shop local and support small businesses in their community; and

WHEREAS, consumers who choose to shop at local businesses directly contribute to the strength and vitality of Nevada’s economy and this effort is supported by community groups and business organizations statewide; and

WHEREAS, the Silver State is proud of the growth of our small business sector, and according to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are more than 270,000 small businesses in our State, employing approximately 500,000 Nevadans; and

WHEREAS, minority-owned businesses employ more than 100,000 Nevadans and contribute to a unique and diverse small business environment; and

WHEREAS, 2021 marks the 12-year anniversary of Shop Small Nevada, and today we recognize the importance of supporting small business to help invigorate the economy, create employment opportunities, and maintain our thriving communities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim do hereby proclaim November 27, 2021, as

SHOP SMALL NEVADA – SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
