WHEREAS, the month of September is recognized annually as Recovery Month and recovery is an essential part of health and overall wellness; and

WHEREAS, Recovery Month 2021 has the theme "Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community," and is an opportunity to share the message that hope is possible and support is available; and

WHEREAS, mental health and substance use disorders affect all communities nationwide, but with compassion, support, and an abundance of treatment and recovery options, those impacted can improve their health and overall wellness; and

WHEREAS, recognizing and celebrating the millions of people and families in long-term recovery is a vital part of removing the stigma toward people impacted by substance use and mental health, and the individual and shared experiences of people and families in recovery are an asset and resource; and

WHEREAS, a rich diversity of ethnic, cultural, gender and sexual identities, professions, and religions make up Nevada's recovery community, all of which contribute to Nevada's character and economy; and

WHEREAS, strengthening recovery-oriented systems of care in Nevada is essential to building resilient and healthy communities, and achieving a unified and coordinated response to those seeking help;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of September 2021, as

RECOVERY MONTH IN NEVADA
