
WHEREAS, parental involvement and family engagement are critical components of a child's educational experience and academic success; and
WHEREAS, over 50 years of research confirms the positive impact of parental involvement and family engagement on a child's education and life outcomes; and
WHEREAS, parental involvement and family engagement are acknowledged as shared responsibilities between schools, educators, families, and the community; and
WHEREAS, the current public health pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to our education system and cast a spotlight on the need for effective and sustained parental involvement and family engagement; and
WHEREAS, Nevada's parents and families are recognized as their child's first teachers and parental involvement and family engagement require a sustained commitment of effort and resources; and
WHEREAS, parents and families in the Silver State want what is best for their children and are instrumental in their children’s successful learning and development; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada recognizes Nevada's parents and families' wealth of knowledge and skills as key to sustaining effective family-school partnerships; and
WHEREAS, today is a celebration to honor the contributions and valuable roles Nevada's parents and families play in the ongoing success of our children;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2021, as
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT DAY IN NEVADA
