WHEREAS,  food is the substance by which life is sustained; and the type, quality, and amount of food that individuals consume each day plays a vital role in overall health and physical fitness; and

WHEREAS, nutrient needs change over an individual's lifespan and following a healthy dietary pattern can help maintain good health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases throughout all stages of the lifespan; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for continuing nutrition education and a wide-scale effort to
enhance healthy eating practices; and

WHEREAS, Nevada is working to improve the quality of diet for Nevadans in need through enhanced cross-sectional collaboration to address and resolve gaps and health disparities in nutrition services and programming for all life stages; and

WHEREAS, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public and Behavioral Health Nutrition Unit, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, Aging and Disability Services Division, and the Nevada Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Division are proud to work together to provide nutrition programming, education, and awareness to Nevadans; and

WHEREAS, National Nutrition Month and the 2021 theme of "Personalize your Plate" is an opportunity to promote the education of healthy food options and informed food choices;
