
WHEREAS, National Diaper Need Awareness Week is intended to draw attention to the issue of diaper need in the U.S. and in Nevada; and
WHEREAS, nearly 1 in 3 Silver State families and families across the U.S. struggle to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy; and
WHEREAS, a signature initiative of the National Diaper Bank Network, National Diaper Need Awareness Week provides individuals, organizations, communities, and elected officials the opportunity to engage in public health conversations and bring attention to the issue of diaper need; and
WHEREAS, State agencies, local nonprofits, diaper bank leaders, advocates and individuals across the Nevada and the U.S. are working tirelessly to assist families in need of diapers and baby essentials; and
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to financial hardship for many and diaper banks have continued to support families by providing resources and support; and
WHEREAS, by raising awareness around diaper need and by working together, Nevadans can ensure that all babies have access to clean diapers and other basic necessities required to thrive;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of September 27 – October 3, 2021, as
NATIONAL DIAPER NEED AWARENESS WEEK IN NEVADA
