
WHEREAS, Month of the Military Child was first established in 1986 by United States Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger to acknowledge and appreciate the children of military families and their personal sacrifice; and
WHEREAS, more than 15,000 of Nevada’s youth are dependents of National Guard and Active Duty Service Members; and
WHEREAS, these brave children in the Silver State, and across the nation, make tremendous sacrifices and are a source of steadfast support to their military parents during deployments and long periods of separation; and
WHEREAS, April is a time to applaud the courage and resilience of Nevada’s military youth and recognize them for the sacrifice they make and the challenges they overcome, while supporting the military heroes of our state; and
WHEREAS, across the state, Nevadans have answered the call to serve and we commend our heroes in uniform while recognizing the sacrifice of their children and families;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim April 2021 as
MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD IN NEVADA
