
WHEREAS, Endometriosis is a painful, chronic disease that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterus and on other parts of the body; and
WHEREAS, there is no cure for endometriosis and the cause is unknown, but there are many treatments and management options to greatly improve patients' quality of life; and
WHEREAS, on average, there is a 7-10-year delay in diagnosis and Endometriosis should be treated as a whole-body disease; and
WHEREAS, researchers estimated that there are more than 6.5 million women in the United States living with endometriosis; equivalent to 1 in 10 women, and many struggle in silence;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 2021 as
ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS MONTH
