WHEREAS, Caregiver Recognition Month provides an opportunity to honor the valuable contributions 330,000 family caregivers provide in Nevada through their support of mental, physical and emotional health, and the coordination of medical care, transportation, home health, personal care and financial affairs; and

WHEREAS, caregiving is a rewarding experience, but comes with a great deal of sacrifice, and is often physically, emotionally and financially demanding for millions of our nation's family caregivers; and

WHEREAS, Nevada caregivers provide almost 280 million hours of assistance with a variety of activities of daily living including shopping for food and cooking, cleaning, administering medicine, bathing and providing emotional support, and a majority of caregivers are caring for a relative or loved one; and

WHEREAS, to successfully address the surging population of older adults and those with significant needs for long-term care services and supports, we must develop methods to support Nevada's caregivers, while developing ways to recruit and retain a qualified, responsive care workforce; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada values the dedicated work of family and professional caregivers and recognizes caregiving for older Nevadans and those with disabilities as vital and necessary to support our residents;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2021, as

CAREGIVER RECOGNITION MONTH IN NEVADA
