
WHEREAS, Careers in Construction Month is observed annually and is designated to increase public awareness and appreciation of construction craft professionals and the entire construction workforce; and
WHEREAS, during October, employers, associations and schools are encouraged to conduct job fairs, panel discussions, and local community events to inform students of the vast employment opportunities in construction industry in Nevada and across the country; and
WHEREAS, the construction industry is Nevada’s fourth largest sector in total employment with more than 92,000 jobs; and
WHEREAS, the construction industry in the Silver State has the highest projected number of openings from 2020 to 2022 and is the second-largest industry with weekly wages over $1,000 per week; and
WHEREAS, Nevada continues to provide opportunities for secondary and postsecondary students as well as individuals looking for entry into this job market with training opportunities; and
WHEREAS, organizations across the State work to highlight opportunities for training and information on the construction industry which will lead to long-term rewarding careers in construction; and
WHEREAS, the Silver State is pleased to honor the construction industry and all construction trades, and the critical role they play in the economic development of Nevada; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2021, as
