WHEREAS, the State of Nevada encourages communities to come together to celebrate the contributions of animals to our lives and help promote healthy interactions between animals and humans; and

WHEREAS, animals are entitled to a dignified existence and should be provided with sustenance to maintain a healthy lifestyle, sheltered from harm, and provided comfort as well as veterinary care and safety; and

WHEREAS, pets who are dependent upon humans shall not be subjected to cruelty, brutality, exploitation, abuse, ill treatment or have their safety jeopardized; and

WHEREAS, humane animal welfare and cruelty prevention awareness and education campaigns are offered by organizations throughout the Silver State; and

WHEREAS, Animal Kindness and Welfare Awareness Week is an opportunity to celebrate animal kindness, care and compassion, and educate communities in preventing animal cruelty;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of May 3 – 9, 2021, as
