WHEREAS, Lourdes Reyes first came to work for the State of Nevada on October 26, 1992 and is retiring after twenty-nine years of outstanding service to the State; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes began her career with the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation as a Management Assistant I within the Rehabilitation Division and soon promoted to a Rehabilitation Technician II; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes moved to the Information Development and Processing Division of DETR on November 18, 1996 where she worked as an IT Technician II within the Field Services unit, supporting IBM Terminals, Desktop PCs, and installing the first computer network cabling for the department; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes rapidly moved up the IT Technician series within the IDP Division of DETR and ultimately became an IT Technician IV on September 17, 1997, where she continued her excellent work in supporting the department’s Field Services unit; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes moved up to the Computer Network Specialist series within the IDP Division of DETR on November 4, 1997, she wore many hats at this time from Field Services Supervisor to Server Group member, and worked on the department’s first phone system; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes was promoted to Computer Network Specialist II within the IDP Division of DETR on September 11, 2002 and in this role, she worked on the first upgrade to the phone system and worked on adding additional features to better support the public; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes was reclassified to an Information Technology Professional III within the IDP Division of DETR on July 1, 2007 when the Computer Network Specialist series was merged with the Computer Systems Programmer and in 2009, 2010, and 2014 she worked on several major enhancements to the department’s phone system; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes took a lead role within the IDP Division of DETR during the pandemic of 2020 and beyond by working tirelessly to replace the department’s phone system/interactive voice response system with a state-of-the-art cloud-based system; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes is always willing to help other IDP staff when asked and share her knowledge. She is a team player and shows leadership and direction to the business units. She has a very positive attitude even through trying times; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes is known to answer calls from DETR staff at all hours of the day, including after her normal workday. Most of these calls are to support the UI claims calls centers, who are the frontline staff that assist UI claimants; and

WHEREAS, Lourdes’ personal commitment to the agency has been profoundly recognized by those who work with her, she is an extremely intelligent person always working hard, who now embarks on a new chapter of her life; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation on behalf of its employees and customers extend to Lourdes Reyes its sincere thanks and gratitude for her twenty-nine years of commitment to excellence and service to the citizens of the Silver State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim November 5, 2021, as a day in honor of
